Compostable sponges are the eco alternative to everyday plastic-filled sponges. Durable, absorbent and ideal for kitchen and bathroom cleaning as well as washing up.
Top tip! Cut sponges in half to make them the same size as a typical disposable sponge, extend their life and save money.
Made from 100% cellulose (a natural wood fibre). They're completely plastic-free and vegan friendly. Wood pulp is sourced from redundant wood that's harvested for other sources in a managed plantation in Germany. Therefore, creating a minimal waste sponge. They're hygienic, environmentally friendly, reusable and fully biodegradable. Each compostable sponge is capable of absorbing 10 times its weight in water.
Keep dry between uses to extend their life. To sterilise: soak for a few minutes in boiled water, microwave damp sponges or pop them in the dishwasher on a drying cycle.
Depending on how vigorously they're used these sponges can last several months and when composted they can breakdown within 3 months.
